Machine Shop
With a selection of machines, our machine shop can assist with repair and manufacture of machined components.
Lathes from 1 meter to 5 meters in length, automatic and semi-automatic CNC machines, two mills, 2 large radial drills, 2 presses at 50 and 70 tons including several smaller machines, give us the capability to provide in house machining repairs and or manufacture of parts as part of our turn key operation.
Spiral Welding
A spiral welding service from 50mm-600mm in diameter, in both steel and stainless steel can limit downtime and we can undertake this form of repair to both worn and damaged rotating equipment. Worn areas are prepared by machining back to clean steel, prior to building up with weld and machining back to the original size.
Metal Spraying
We are able to rebuild the worn area using metal spraying techniques utilising stainless steel, nickel or bronze.
Once metal has been sprayed, the built-up area can then be ground or machined to very fine tolerances, in order to produce a repaired component which is as good as the original.
This process along with our ability to fabricate and weld previously damaged parts allows for a quicker turnaround and recondition of your motors as well as being a more cost effective method of repair.
Welding & Fabrication
Our workshop facilities, ideally situated on the River Itchen in Southampton, with approximately 20,000 square ft. on a two-acre site, allows us to serve the local marine and shore based industries including UK, Europe and worldwide.
Inhouse lifting facilities including a 10-ton gantry cranes and a 35 ton Tandano mobile crane, We are equipped to handle all forms of heavy engineering/welding and fabricating.
Our welders and fabricators carry a wide selection of coding to meet with class requirements for DNV, Lloyds, BV and many more similar organisations. Covering both steel and aluminium, we can provide highly skilled personnel to undertake basic repairs through to complete design, build and repair.
We offer an array of different welding and cutting procedures, MMA, FCAW, TIF, SAW, GSFC, SEM, automatic tracker for high efficiency cutting and plasma cutting all make up the equipment and skills IME are able to offer.
With our 24hour service, down time can be limited allowing you to get back to production in the most cost effective and time efficient way.
